A PADI Instructor is the most sought after professional in the scuba diving industry and jobs can be found all around the world. In the current tough economic times you could supplement your income by becoming a part time instructor. Instructor Development Course
The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC)—the core of PADI Instructor training. The first portion is the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor program.
As part of our
commitment to you we offer an
IDC Preparation Course at the start of this program at no extra charge to ensure that you are at the required competence level. This is a two day preparation course covering Dive Theory as well as Skills and Rescue Assessments. Initially we review all your theoretical knowledge, identifying areas where you need to improve. We then take you into our swimming pool (The Lagoon Aquarium at uShaka Marine World) and our purpose built heated diving pool where we conduct skill circuits designed to improve your demonstrations to the quality expected by the PADI examiner’s on the IE. We also conduct Rescue workshops to ensure that your rescue skills are of an exemplary standard.
The IDC at Calypso is conducted over 9 days. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.
Having completed the IDC successfully your almost there. The
Instructor exam (
IE) is conducted over two days at the end of the IDC by an examiner sent out by PADI International.
