HotelJobs.co.za supports Shark Diving Unlimited in their fight to protect Sharks. [Wednesday, August 03, 2011]
Hoteljobs.co.za has recently provided R100 000 worth of advertising to Shark Diving Unlimited in support of their commitment to shark conservation, specifically in support of their latest project currently running with the University of Stellenbosch and the Department of Oceans and Coasts in South Africa. Having recently been out on one of Shark Diving Unlimited’s Great White Shark cage diving tours, the owners of Hoteljobs.co.za felt that they wanted to show their support towards this incredible project and towards sustainable tourism, at large.
Shark Diving Unlimited utilises the income derived from its white shark cage diving expeditions to fund various educational, research and conservation initiatives. They have been involved in several projects over the years, ranging from satellite tagging, acoustic tagging, and population dynamics studies supported by South Africa’s Department of Oceans and Coasts. They are currently supporting marine biologist, Sara Andreonetti of Stellenbosch University, with her population dynamic research by way of DNA studies; one of the biggest and most in-depth research projects running on great white sharks. Their aim is to achieve the conservation of sharks, and to aid research and education initiatives to better understand much about sharks that is unknown and to show these ancient and incredible apex predators in a positive light.
The owner of Shark Diving Unlimited, Michael Rutzen has over 15 years’
experience working with, interacting and learning about the magnificent great white sharks. He has filmed a number of free-diving documentaries, and his data and footage have generated massive world concern for the plight of both the great whites and other species of sharks. They serve to educate people, changing their perception that white sharks are dangerous man-eating predators.
With the help of companies such as HotelJobs.co.za, Shark Diving Unlimited becomes one step closer to reaching their goals. The only proven method of protecting any animal is by way of eco-tourism, making animals worth more alive than dead. HotelJobs.co.za is incredibly proud to help fight for the protection of sharks throughout the world and to educate people about these intelligent and curious predators.
