Sheila Santilhano & Pietra Kotze Exhibition Opening 4 September 2011 to 1 October 2011 [Tuesday, September 06, 2011]
The exhibition will feature paintings from Sheila Santilhano and Pietra Kotze, both internationally acclaimed. Most of the work will be watercolours, though we can also look forward to some colourful works in oil from Santilhano. The watercolours of both artists are inspired by nature. In fact Santilhano is well known for her wildlife studies. Kotze breaks away from nature for her other passion of dancers. Together these artists treat the viewer to a wide variety of subject matter. On view until Saturday, 1 October.

"Past Masters" Exhibition 30 July to 27 August [Tuesday, August 02, 2011]
“Past Masters” is an Exhibition to honour three outstanding artists from Gauteng. Their passing robbed the art scene of three dynamic artists. Hannes du Plessis, (22 February 1941-January 2004) a West Rand resident, was particularly well known for his strong, clean coloured watercolours with a strong drafting undertone. He favoured all subject matter: landscape, florals, wildlife, portraiture, abstracts, etc. In his last years he was concentrating on movement, particularly that of dancers, which are colourful and provocative. Colin Nockels (3 November 1920-18 August 2010) was originally from England. After school he attended Art School and passed the Royal Society of Arts Examination. He also studied at the Academy of Art, Venice and the London School of Art, Chelsea. When he came to South Africa he joined an advertising agency and became a founder member of the Society of Industrial Artists of S.A. and studied watercolour under Annemarie Oppenheimer. His great versatility as an artist is also reflected in his varied interests: archaeology, ancient history, guns, horses, military history and cricket. He taught for many years from his studio in Muldersdrift. Dulcie Robinson (who passed away in April 2010) worked extensively in all aquamedia, collage and inks. She captures light and depth by glazing numerous layers of transparent paint, which creates a glow in her work. Ancient art and petroglyphs have influenced many of her paintings, where texture is an important tool. She studied under many well known teachers both in S.A. and in U.S.A. She was an outstanding leader of the Watercolour Society of South Africa. After 1995 she became involved with the Little Artists programme for mostly disadvantaged children. Seeing the creativity and potential in these wonderful children she led a team teaching and encouraging the children. Peter Robinson has continued being involved with help from others.
