The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) is a joint venture of the various professions, organised business and affiliated bodies. We have branches in most major centres.
Our purpose is to provide administered dispute resolution services, including panels of arbitrators and mediators, and a facility that is purpose-built to cater for such matters. AFSA is a non-profit organisation. While disputes may be inevitable, the methods of resolving them can be simplified, expedited and made less costly in terms of time and money.
It is becoming increasingly commonplace for businesses to include in their contracts a dispute resolution clause, whose jurisdiction is bound not by territory, but by a set of rules determined by an ADR organisation. The parties effectively agree to settle any altercations outside the courtroom by arbitration, mediation or a combination of both.he courts oversee the invocation of the arbitration process without interfering in the merits of the dispute, ensuring the enforcement of arbitral awards should it be necessary.
